The HS Doc Club Presents is a three-part series that consists of some of our personal favourite docs handpicked for our members and any of you who would like to join us!  Following our monthly screening etiquette, we’ll be bringing special guests to speak with us afterwards and share their unique insights on a topic raised by the film. But it doesn’t end there! We will be extending the conversation through our Facebook page, website, and social media– suggesting articles, related sources and interesting content to facilitate discussion amongst new friends, old acquaintances, and fellow doc lovers.

The beauty of docs is that they often leave us with many questions, and so our mission is to find some answers. We aim to widen the post-film journey for those of us whose contemplation over the power of documentaries continues long after the credits have rolled.

The 3rd screening is: West of Memphis (2012) on Thursday, June 23rd at 8:00 pm @Bloor Cinema.

Both a sobering true crime story and a scathing indictment of the American justice system, this compassionate and fiery doc tells the story of the wrongly convicted West Memphis Three.

Following the film, Lee Mellor, PhD (ABD) criminologist and author of Cold North Killers: Canadian Serial Murder, will lead a discussion and Q&A session about cold cases in the criminal justice system.

The bar will stay open late so you can chat over drinks with other doc fans!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the screening and who took part in this three-part series. We had a blast hosting these events for you and hope that you had a great time too!
