The HS Doc Club Presents is a three-part series that consists of some of our personal favourite docs hand picked for our members and any of you who would like to join us! Following our monthly screening etiquette, we’ll be bringing special guests to speak with us afterwards and share their unique insights on a topic raised by the film. But it doesn’t end there! We will be extending the conversation through our Facebook page, website, and social media– suggesting articles, related sources and interesting content to facilitate discussion amongst new friends, old acquaintances and fellow doc lovers.
The beauty of docs is that they often leave us with many questions, and so our mission is to find some answers. We aim to widen the post-film journey for those of us whose contemplation over the power of documentaries continues long after the credits have rolled. So why not travel with us and bring your friends along for the ride?
Our 1st screening is: Winnebago Man (2009) on Thursday, April 21st at 9:00 pm @Bloor Cinema.
This documentary goes behind-the-scenes of the viral video that brought you “The Angriest Man in the World”. After garnering much attention on VHS, the compilation of outtakes from a promotional sales video transcended the medium and became an internet phenomenon. Youtubers found his incessant swearing and perpetual annoyance hilarious, but documentarian Ben Steinbauer wanted to know more– who is this guy and how has the popularity of his video affected his life?
We are super excited to announce that following this screening we will be holding a panel with Youtube sensations:
Tristan Gough of Rob Ford the Movie
Megan MacKay of Ray Rice Inspired Make-up Tutorial
David Elmaleh of Kanye West Does Stand-up Comedy
–where they will be sharing their own viral video experiences!!

We had a great turn out this month and wanted to thank all of you for coming! It’s so fun to meet people who share our interest in docs and are passionate about it as we are! Here are some photos from the event in case you missed it:
